A new report by a federal watchdog on offshore wind development asks for better coordination with Native American tribes and a new office in the North Atlantic region to oversee local development.

Germany approved over 4GW of new onshore wind projects and connected more than 1GW to the grid in the first quarter of 2025, according to the German Wind and Solar Agency. 

Siemens Gamesa reported narrowed losses and increasing revenues in the second quarter of the year as parent company Siemens Energy posted its preliminary financial results for the period on Wednesday (16 April). 

The Trump administration has slammed the brakes on the construction of Equinor’s 810MW Empire Wind 1 off New York City, marking the latest blow in a series of setbacks for the US offshore wind industry. 

Norway has won approval from the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) for its inaugural floating offshore wind tender after years of delays. 

Ørsted and Equinor have estimated that wake effects caused by the planned 1.5GW Outer Dowsing offshore wind farm in the North Sea could result in combined losses of up to £361 million (€422 million) for their existing projects. 

The UK’s Ministry of Defence (MoD) has dropped a previous opposition to the planned Dogger Bank South (DBS) East offshore wind farm in the North Sea after concerns over possible radar interference were addressed.
